Firstly, thank you to all our members who have re-registered so far this season. Just a gentle reminder that subscriptions are due, so please use your registration details from last season to re-register for 2024 – 2025 season. If you haven’t been registered with Bective before, then please register as a new member. It’s important that everyone pays their subscription as this money is used for the day to day running of our club. Details on how to pay see below.

GENERAL UPDATES
No matches in the league for the teams last weekend. Joe Osborne’s Bective Vets played an entertaining game against our neighbours Old Wesley last Friday night, losing out on the evening to a younger Vets outfit. Great to see nonetheless a fair crowd from both clubs enjoying pints and sandwiches in the bar afterwards.
The Leinster League resumes this Saturday with our home fixtures against Athy. Due to the Leinster vs Munster game, there is an earlier kick off time of 1pm for the 2ndXV and 2pm for the 1stXV, with the Pre Match Lunch beforehand at 12.30pm. Places at the lunch are still available and booking details are below.
As runners-up to Carlow in 1B last season, Athy are going well and lost a tight game against Seapoint last time out so they will be relishing a tilt at Bective in Donnybrook.
For those not travelling over to Croke Park, remember we have 4 screens to watch the match live in the Pavilion.
A feature of the day and continuing the Leinster vs Munster theme, is Paul Hatton’s Bective U12’s playing Shannon U12’s at 2.30pm on the back pitch. A big contingent of Shannon and Munster supporters are expected to turn up at Donnybrook on Saturday, so it should be a busy and fun day at the club.
U20s play away on Sunday, October 13th @ 3pm against Fingal U20s. This is their first league match in JP Fanagan - Prem 3.

BECTIVE RUGBY EMPLOYMENT APPEAL
With the start of the 2024/25 season and new and existing players on the lookout for employment, we are asking members if you have any work or if you know of anyone who may have an employment opportunity to please contact Ben Kealy on 087 2535532.
Bective are also on the lookout for new players to join the team. If anyone you know is moving to Dublin soon, starting college, looking for a new club or a community of friends, please encourage them to join Bective.

BECTIVE MEN’S SHED
The ‘Bective Men’s Shed’ is for those retired members who can give an hour or two on a Thursday to devote to maintenance and development of our premises and for a meet up for tea/coffee. We are keen to develop the rear of the pavilion so that it can be used during the summer months for outside eating/drinking and the group are currently working on this project. The Men’s Shed meets on Thursdays at 12 noon in the clubhouse.
