GENERAL UPDATES

A good weekend at Bective as the 1XV registered their first win in the League with an away 5 try bonus point victory in Carlow, putting their season firmly back on track after 2 matches. Make no mistake, Ben Manion’s charges had to dig deep, a big Carlow pack and a couple of injuries of our own put it up to Bective. So well done to the coaches and all the players for a massive effort and hopefully the injured lads will recover in time for their next game.

The League takes a break this week resuming on Sat 11 Oct against Athy at an earlier 2pm KO, with the Pre Match Lunch beforehand.

Final Result: Co. Carlow 22 - Bective 31

1XV MATCH REPORT & PHOTOS

2XV A controversial touchline decision on full time denied the 2XV, as Carlow took full advantage to snatch an unlikely victory. Very tough on the players who had regained the lead in the final quarter and were full value for a win, but not to be.

Final Result: Co. Carlow 20 - Bective 19

Unfortunately, Lansdowne and Trinity could not fulfil their League fixtures at the weekend leaving both the Bective 3XV & 4XV with walkovers.

U20 Fantastic to see David McAllister’s U20’s kick off their season on the main pitch last Fri night against TUC.  Although the game was a friendly, it was a fantastic game with the new Bective 20’s just coming up short in a lively end to end contest.  Look out for more fixtures for the 20’s over the coming weeks before the League starts.

Remember your support is key to the club’s success!

COFFEE MORNING

Club Manager Mark O’Brien and Sharon Byrne held their annual BIG COFFEE MORNING charity event last Sunday at the Clubhouse in aid of Our Lady’s Hospice Harold’s Cross and we’re delighted to report that they’ve raised the fantastic sum of €3,600 to date for this worthy charity. This charity fundraiser on top of other charity events at the club (e.g. Ladies Charity Lunch 2024, Walk on the Wild Side 2024) brings the total funds raised for charity this year at Bective to over €11,000.
