Match Report: 3rd XV vs Navan

Last Fridays game for the 3rds was against Navan. We went into this game trying to find our next gear to push on the season. With the addition of Rob and Peri plugging gaps in our back line we started strong. We kept forcing Navan into errors with our strong running game which resulted in an early penalty that was converted. Navan pegged us back only for our hooker, Eoin McIntyre to fight his way over the line from some great backs passing that cut through the opposition defence, which was then converted by Dennis Moran. Just before the stroke of halftime Navan scored to go into the break, Bective 10-8 ahead. The second half went over 30 minutes before there was a score as both teams were going hell for leather at each other. Navan’s number 10 got two shots at the goalposts and unfortunately for us he slotted them. For the last 5 minutes we were camped on Navan 5-meter line. Navan kept giving away penalties to slow down the game and frustrate us which led them to getting a yellow card. Unfortunately, Navan got their hands on the ball and kicked it into touch as the time ran out for us to lose 14-10. Another game score line that doesn't reflect the attitude and the ability of the Rangers 3rds.
