2023/24 League Kicks Off

Weekly Newsletter (Sept 11 – 17)

Hello everyone at Bective Rangers and welcome back to the new season.

Our Club President Michael Shalloe passes on his best wishes to all the Bective members, families, and all our sponsors including our new club sponsor Snow Technology for the coming season.

With the ‘Rugby World Cup 2023’ up and running, interest in rugby at all levels will be huge, no more than here in Bective. Hopefully, the return to school for all the Mini’s went well and they (and new Mini’s) are all looking forward to their rugby season at Bective.

We could not start the Newsletter without mentioning the stunning transformation of our clubhouse. The completed work both outside and inside the Pavilion is truly amazing and is a credit to those members who have planned, managed and implemented the project. On behalf of all the members well done and thank you for your great work.

As back to back League winners in the last 2 years, the new season brings new hope that we will go one better this season and that this will be our year.  A big welcome to all the new players, Mini’s, U20’s and Seniors and also to Sarah Jane McInerney and Seán O’Reilly who have joined the Management Team. We wish them, Club Capt. Mattie Keane, Bernard Jackman and all the coaches, kit and team managers and the players the very best for the season ahead.

This Saturday sees the start of the 2023/24 Leinster League Division 1A. We kick off our campaign with a home game in Donnybrook against Wicklow at 3pm. Wicklow were runners up in Division 1B last season. It promises to be a fantastic day as we will use the occasion to celebrate the reopening of our refurbished clubhouse and the awarding of an official Irish Cap to the late Jack Guiney. The Pre Match Lunch will start at 1pm, Mark O’Brien and his staff will be ready, so why not come along with family and friends and have a great day out in Bective.

Annual Bective Charity Cycle to Howth

The Annual Charity Cycle to Howth took place recently with over 20 cyclists participating just before our recent heatwave. In mixed weather, the peloton led by our own Mark Jones set forth over to the Northside and on the Howth, where refreshments were on hand for everyone. Back along the coast to Bective where everyone tucked into pizza and pints served by our ownMark O’Brien in the newly refurbished Bective bar.

Well done Mark Jones for organising a memorable day and toall the participants for raising an amazing €644 for Pieta.
