1XV NEXT FIXTURE
BECTIVE vs CONNEMARA
SAT 16 NOV | DONNYBROOK | ALL-IRELAND JNR CUP
KO: 5.00 PM
GENERAL UPDATES
What a fantastic weekend it was for Bective as all teams won their fixtures; the 1XV winning an epic top of the table clash over Seapoint, the 2XV winning their game out in Seapoint, the 3XV beat Railway and the 4XV won against Newbridge. To cap it, all on Sunday the U20’s did the club proud by beating Wicklow in the league.
A large crowd of Bective supporters turned out in Cabinteely last Saturday to support the 1XV & 2XV and were rewarded by the great performances of both teams. We so needed that support as Seapoint had their own call to arms with massive support on the sideline too. It was another outstanding performance by all the Bective players in a tight hard fought game, contested in tough conditions, the team showed their character and tenacity to run out deserving winners and now top the league. With the wins the 1XV are also into the final of the Spencer Cup and the 2XV are also into the final of the Jim Byrne Cup, both matches to be played on the 21 Dec.
The 1XV take a break from the league as we welcome Connemara RFC to Donnybrook on Sat for the Quarter-Final of the All-Ireland Jnr Cup. Please note the 5.00 pm KO, as Old Wesley play Highfield in the AIL at 2.15pm. We met Connemara in the All-Ireland Round Robin Semi-Final playoff in Navan back in 2021, with Bective taking the honours and marching on to meet Instonians in the final. The Clifden men will be relishing this trip and will be looking to put one over on Bective, so it is important that all the supporters get behind Tiarnan and the team on Sat and help the team to keep their momentum going with another big performance. Due to the late KO, there will be no Pre-Match Lunch.
Always remember your support is key to the team’s success.
Final Score: Seapoint 3 – Bective 13
Bective dig deep to down Seapoint.
The 3XV are playing their match at 2pm on Sat and the 4XV at 5pm so it will be a busy day at the club. Why not leave the car behind as the car parking facilities will be at a premium with 4 matches being played in the stadium?

U8's AWAY Blackrock Blitz - The U8s had a fantastic experience at the Blackrock blitz on Sunday! Tackling development is such an important aspect of young players’ growth in rugby, and it’s great to see them continuing to improve. Competing well, especially at this age, is a huge achievement, and it shows that the coaching group is doing a great job of building both skills and confidence.Big kudos to Head Coaches Neil Pickard and Jamie Martin-Smith who are the head coaches of this group.
U9 AWAY Blackrock - The U9 team had an excellent day at Blackrock on Sunday! Tackling superbly and scoring some great tries shows that the players are not only improving their individual skills but also working well as a team. Head Coach Jamie Nolan has them really well drilled and organised and they continue to improve with every match they play.
U12 AWAY Greystones Kick Off - The U12s had a fantastic run in Greystones on Sunday! Winning 4 matches and drawing 2 is a great achievement, especially when they’ve been competing at a high level in every game so far.
Big congratulations to Head Coach Paul Hatton and the coaching team for their excellent work. It’s clear that they’re doing a lot to help these players perform consistently and develop their game.
U13 HOME Ashbourne - What an exciting first league match for the U13s! It was a real thriller, and it’s great that Bective came out on top in the end. Captain Charles Henry’s try was a huge moment for the team, and the precision kicking from Henry Pickard was crucial in securing the win as well as a huge tackle by Andrew Murphy at the end of the match which definitely saved a try.
A big congratulations to the whole squad for contributing to such a memorable victory in their first league outing! It shows the depth of talent and teamwork in the group. A nail-biting match like that will definitely give the team confidence going forward.
U14 AWAY Old Belvedere - The U14 team played away in Belvo and unfortunately lost out to a very strong side with the final score of 17 - 10. It was a tough loss to take having competed really well for long periods of the match. They face another tough test this week against Blackrock.
