GENERAL UPDATES
Happy New Year and welcome back.
2025 is up and running as the league kicked off earlier than usual this year, with the visit of last season’s 1B Champions Carlow to Donnybrook last Saturday for Round 9 of the Leinster League Div 1A.
The conditions were to say the least freezing, nonetheless, a big crowd turned out to support both teams and over 60 members and guests attended the Pre-Match Lunch. Bective, after taking a commanding lead at the halfway stage, had to withstand a spirted Carlow turn around in the second half. Make no mistake, the players had to dig deep and like our recent cup match up north, showing incredible resolve with another fantastic defensive performance to hold out for the win. Bective stay top of the League 5 points clear of Seapoint. Next up it’s an away trip to Athy and based on our match last October, this will be another massive game for the squad. It’s less than an hour for the trip down to Athy, so let’s ensure we support Ben, Tiarnan and the players on Saturday and keep the momentum going.
Always remember your support is key to the team’s success.

U20s - No fixture.
Mini’s
The mini section fully returns this Sunday 12th January 2025.
There was one match last Sunday, the 5th of January. Our U14 combined team with Lansdowne came through a bruising encounter to beat Ashbourne in Donnybrook 16 - 12. Two tries and two penalties was just enough to secure the win. That takes them to second in the table.

Walk on the Wild Mountain Side
The 14th Annual Memorial Walk takes place on Sunday 26th January 2025.
We’ll depart Johnny Fox’s Pub @ 9.00 and arrive at Donnybrook (Bective Rangers FC) for brunch @ 1.00/1.30 pm.
This great hike has spectacular views of Dublin Bay and the Wicklow Mountains. It isn't an overly challenging walk, but it is a good workout.
All are welcome to join us!

The Annual Club Dinner is on Friday, February 28th in the Clubhouse, Donnybrook
Reception 7pm | Dinner 8pm sharp | Tickets €60pp.

BECTIVE MEN’S SHED
The ‘Bective Men’s Shed’ is for those retired members who can give an hour or two on a Thursday to devote to maintenance and development of our premises and for a meet up for tea/coffee. We are keen to develop the rear of the pavilion so that it can be used during the summer months for outside eating/drinking and the group are currently working on this project. The Men’s Shed meets on Thursdays at 12 noon in the clubhouse.
