Under 18’s into Final

General Updates

Who would have thought that our season is still going. Well, the honour goes to the Bective U18’s squad hoping to give the club a much-needed lift before the season closes out. On Wednesday night they beat a fancied Barnhall A XV in the U18 Cup Semi Final. The team captained by ex Bective Mini Ernie O’Brien, showed great courage getting back on level terms after conceding an early score. Then after falling behind again in the second half, a brilliant passing movement resulted in a converted try. After further Bective pressure a 3-point penalty was enough to see the team home. It was a pulsating game that ebbed and flowed with the result in the melting pot right to the whistle.

The team consisting of 5th year pupils from various schools, CBC Monkstown, Clonkeen College, Blackrock College, High School and Gonzaga only got together recently and trained under the eagle eyes of our own Bernard Jackman, Emmett Sheridan and Maeliosa Power, whose son Luke is the No.13 on the team. There was to be no celebrations unfortunately as the lads had to head home and be up for school the next morning.

Well done to Bernard, Emmett, and We Wah for all their work and effort in putting the squad together and congratulations on reaching the final on Sunday.
