Energia All-Ireland Jnr. Cup Final

BECTIVE vs ENNISKILLEN

SAT 25 JAN | ASHBOURNE RFC | AIL JUNIOR CUP | 1XV KO: 2.30PM

GENERAL UPDATES

Round 11 of the Leinster League Div 1A and Bective put together one of their finest performances in recent years by downing Ashbourne in a 14 try victory in Donnybrook last Saturday. Bective still stay top by 5 points over Seapoint with the League now taking a break until Sat Feb 8. Well done also to all the teams! With the 2XV, 3XV and 4XV all winning, it provided a clean sweep for the club last weekend.

So the focus now turns to this Saturday and the “Energia All-Ireland Jnr Cup Final” which pits last season’s beaten finalists Bective FC against Enniskillen RFC, who lost out in 2023. Our opponents have been knocking at the door in Ulster over the last few seasons and are currently going well in their League and like ourselves, have their sights set on a shot at the AIL play-offs to go senior. We hosted Enniskillen and a large contingent of their supporters in Round 1 back in 2022 where they left their mark in Bective by taking the spoils.  So, we will need our “A game” plus boots on the ground this Saturday to not only match them on the pitch, but also on the touchline. Ashbourne is just 20 mins from the Finglas exit on the M50. The players are on a fantastic run currently, so let’s support Ben, Tiarnan and the squad as they go to make their own piece of history for themselves and for Bective on Saturday.

Always remember your support is key to the team’s success.
Final Score: Bective 88-5 Ashbourne

Bective Brimming With Belief For Second Shot At Junior Cup Glory

IRFU Preview Bective Final article:

After losing to Ballyclare in a one-sided final last year, Bective Rangers are hoping to make it second time lucky against Enniskillen in Saturday’s Energia All-Ireland Men’s Junior Cup decider.

It was not to be for Bective last January, but will Ashbourne RFC prove a happier hunting ground for them this weekend? A titanic Leinster-Ulster tussle awaits, with the action getting underway at 2.30pm (live on irishrugby+).

Bective have been knocking on the door for success in recent seasons, but it has failed to materialise in either the Energia All-Ireland Junior Cup or in their bid for promotion back to the Energia All-Ireland League.

‘Close-Knit’ Enniskillen Aiming To Go One Step Further In Junior Cup Final

IRFU Preview Enniskillen Final article:

Nestled just outside the biggest town in Fermanagh, Enniskillen Rugby Club is a beating heart of the community. Brothers, cousins, and sons have all donned the Skins jersey this year with the ambition of winning the Energia All-Ireland Men’s Junior Cup, and that dream could be achieved on Saturday.

This weekend marks just the second time Enniskillen will compete in the final of this prestigious national competition. They suffered a 30-18 defeat to local rivals Clogher Valley in the 2023 final.

U9's HOME Monkstown - The U9's hosted Monkstown at the weekend. There was some super rugby played by both sides and some brilliant tries scored.  Led by Head Coach Jamie Nolan, this group are certainly moving in the right direction.

U12's AWAY Greystones - The mighty U12 group continued their brilliant season with another solid performance in Dr. Hickey Park.  All teams competed really well and they won 5 out of their 6 matches.

U13's AWAY Blackrock - The U13's finished their league campaign away in Stradbrook.  Unfortunately, it was a tough day at the office, and they were beaten by a strong Blackrock side 46 - 10.  It has been a tough learning experience in the top league, but they have 2 cup competitions to look forward to.

U14's HOME Coolmine - The U14 side played a friendly match against Coolmine up in CUS.  This gave the coaches the ability to play the full squad. Unfortunately, they were beaten by 1 score but are flying high in the league where they are currently sitting second.

Fixtures:
U6/7
vs Seapoint/DLSP/Clondalkin - Home
U8 vs DLSP/Seapoint/Greystones - Away
U10 vs Malahide - Away
U11 vs Suttonians - Away
U14 vs Donnybrook Babas - Away
