General Updates

A great weekend for Bective with the 3 teams winning their league matches. The 1XV & 2XV both winning away at Boyne on Saturday following on from the 3XV winning away to St. Mary’s on Friday night.

Saturday morning was not pretty with continuous wind and rain as the Rangers supporters headed north to Drogheda to support the team against the 21/22 Div1B champions Boyne in a very tricky fixture. Bective opting to play with the wind on a heavy pitch produced a totally professional performance building up a 4 try, 24-point lead by half time and then brilliantly managing a scoreless 2nd half against a ferocious Boyne 15. The 5 points and results elsewhere have Bective leading the league now by 4 points from Gorey. Well done to the players, Bernard, and the coaches. Nonetheless this was the first of the 3 match January leg so we will take the win and move on to next week and the home game versus Kilkenny.

Final Score: Boyne RFC 0 - Bective Rangers FC 24

2XV. Great performance from Sean Geraghty and the team in difficult conditions at Boyne keeping their unbeaten run going in a 6 try win. The seconds have clawed their way back into contention to win the league and now stand just 5 points behind the league leaders.

Final Score: Boyne RFC 7 – Bective Rangers FC 38

3XV. The Thirds have certainly turned their season around and all credit to the players and coaches for their fantastic battling performance winning away at St. Marys last Fri night.

Final Score: St. Mary’s RFC 10 – Bective Rangers FC 12

Mini's

U14’s beat DLSP 54-7. After some tough training sessions, the team pulled out their performance of the season so far to beat a strong DLSP team.

U13’s came up short away to Blackrock – the team really competed well on a very heavy pitch against a big ‘Rock pack and were always on the back foot! Nonetheless Bective never gave up and scored 2 late tries.

U11’s played away in Clontarf. It was an early start and very cold, but the lads all put in a super effort and won their matches.

U10’s played away in Blackrock. Again, it was cold, but all 3 teams competed well against Blackrock winning the majority of their matches.

The Future of Bective Update

Thank you to all those that have volunteered to get involved in the working groups and are now working diligently to plan the future of Bective.

It is really heartening to see so many members who are giving so generously of their time to this project and are performing with engagement and energy in each of the working groups.

The leaders of the six working groups met with the steering group on Monday this week to report in on progress since the start of December.  In broad terms the leaders of each working group have been engaging with their members on the key areas that each group aims to focus on, how they are going on the focus on those areas and when they aim to have a plan to share with the rest of the working groups.

The working groups will be leveraging off ideas from each other and making sure that there is interconnectivity between the ideas as they emerge so there is joined up thinking.

The six working groups are as follows:

Rugby
Governance
Branding and Identity
Clubhouse and Facilities
Sponsorship
Community

The working groups will be reporting back in mid-February on various initiatives that are emerging.

Communication is key to the success for planning for the future.  If you want to give feedback on any of the above areas, please feel free to contact Sinead Jackman sineadjackman@gmail.com   and Sinead will link you in with the relevant group leaders.
