GENERAL UPDATES
So, as it was, a great turnout of Bective supporters travelled down to our neighbours Monkstown last Saturday, knowing that the victors of this vital Leinster League Div 1A clash would have one hand on the title. With Bective taking an early lead, hopes were high that this was to be our day. Although Bective weakened by injuries to key players against a resurgent opponent and League leaders who were intent on reversing the Donnybrook result from last November were up for the challenge. Little did we know that the first half would be a 7 try pulsating compelling tussle, with Monkstown just shading it. On the resumption, unfortunately, our opponents hit the ground running with 2 early tries to put further daylight between the sides and leave Bective chasing the game, to a man they gave it everything to claw back the deficit but sadly it was not to be our day with a final scoreline that certainly did not reflect on the huge performance all the Bective players put in.
The squad will wipe away the disappointment and keep going with just the 2 matches left in the league. First up after the Internationals next weekend are Suttonians at home on Sat 2 March at the later KO time 5pm with our usual Pre Match lunch.

2nd XV: Monkstown 15 – Bective 31
Bective didn’t leave Sydney Parade empty handed as the 2XV claimed a 5 try bonus point win which puts the squad on course to retain the League title. The 2XV currently lead the League by 2 points with a game in hand which is fixed for this Fri 23 Feb in Donnybrook at 8 pm

Annual Dinner 2024
The 2024 Annual Club Dinner is just 1 week away. The club dinner is always a fantastic night with great people and excellent guest speakers. This year President Michael Shalloe has invited the ‘The GMc’ team featuring ex Irish International Women’s Rugby Coach Greg McWilliams and Noughties Bective coach Nigel Osbourne to entertain the guests, discussing all things rugby from the serious to the ridiculous. Why not take a table with a few pals?
The Executive kindly request all members and their guests to please avoid payment on the night. Please pay your €60 online below or contact Club Manager Mark O’Brien and pay by card, details below. This will avoid the unnecessary queuing at the entrance witnessed in previous years and will ensure all our members and their guests enjoy the evening.

Ladies Lunch
The Ladies Lunch is on Sat 9th March 2024 at 2.30pm in the Clubhouse, Donnybrook in aid of Ronald McDonald House, Children's Health Ireland, Crumlin.

Bective seek coach for U20 team
Bective Rangers are seeking applications for the position of Head Coach of their Under 20’s squad for the 2024/25 season and future seasons.
Key Responsibilities:
Create an environment that allows the team to develop their own identity and culture that is in keeping with Bective’s values and ambition.
Create good relationships with all club coaching staff, medical personnel, S&C teams and the players.
Conduct regular reviews with coaching teams and our Director of rugby against agreed KPIs.
Key Qualities & Strengths:

Technical knowledge
Communication skills
Long-term planning
Commitment and enthusiasm
Willingness to work with the club to recruit players.

Club Bookkeeper Role (Part-Time):
The Club Executive are currently looking for a part-time Club Bookkeeper to work closely with our Treasurer. The role will include processing accounts payable/receivable invoices and payments, ensuring follow-up on any outstanding amounts to be paid, assisting with the preparation and production of financial statements and reports, bank reconciliations.
This role would suit someone looking for flexible hours (approx. 15 hrs per week) and remote working. Experience of Xero is desirable but not essential.
We would ask all of you as members or part of the wider Bective family, to help spread the word in relation to this opportunity as we'd like to fill this position through the Club's network if possible.
