GENERAL UPDATES

The 1XV have qualified for the Semi-Final of the All-Ireland Jnr Cup after defeating Connemara RFC last Saturday in Donnybrook.  Connemara had made the long journey from Clifden and overnighted in Dublin beforehand, preparing as best they could for the game.  In a lively first half, our opponents gave a good account of themselves, running the ball at every opportunity and led 15 – 12 at the break.  However, in a fantastic 2nd half performance, Bective powered past Connemara to set-up an away Semi-Final trip to Dromore RFC on Sat Dec 14.

*Please note there are no fixtures this weekend except for the Mini’s and Bective Vets.

Final Score: Bective 50 - Connemara 27

Results:

U6/U7 HOME Blitz - Belvo and Monkstown visited Donnybrook last Sunday on a cool but sunny setting the stage for some great rugby. The action was fast and lively, with plenty of tries, tags and moments of brilliance from all the teams. Both Bective and the visiting teams demonstrated relentless tagging and strong defensive play keeping the games competitive. After the final whistle, the teams enjoyed a well-deserved party, complete with crisps, sweets and plenty of smiles.

U8 AWAY - Terenure - The U8's visited Terenure at the weekend and continued their tackling journey. They played some brilliant rugby and scored some great tries while demonstrating their defensive skills tackling everything that moved. Head coaches Neil Pickard & Jamie Martin-Smith have done a super job with this group.

U10 AWAY - Stillorgan/Rathfarnham - The U10's played away against Stillorgan/Rathfarnham on Sunday. Tomas Sheehy's squad competed superbly well against a tough Stillorgan/Rathfarnham group. They are improving week on week as they play more matches.

U13 - AWAY - St. Mary's - The U13 side played their second league match away in Templeville Road on Sunday. They endured a tough day at the office losing out to a very strong St. Mary's side 30 - 0. With a small squad on the day they put in a huge amount of effort right until the final whistle. There were some notable performances from Ryan Doyle, Oscar Maybury and scrum half Patrick Kennedy  who put in a huge number of tackles. Well done to all the boys involved. Onwards and upwards to their next home fixture against Balbriggan.

U14 - HOME - Blackrock -  The U14's played against a very strong Blackrock team on Sunday. With a number of key players missing they unfortunately lost out in the end to a tough Blackrock side. Being a newly amalgamated team with Lansdowne they have done superbly well ending up in the top 3 after the grading games. Best of Luck to Dave Lane, Dave Shaw and the rest of the coaches for the league campaign.

Fixtures:
U9
HOME DLSP - Kick Off 9am
U12 HOME Stillorgan/Rathfarnham & Wicklow - Kick Off TBC
U13 HOME Balbriggan Kick Off 12pm

Announcement – Junior Vice President

As is tradition, the Past Presidents of our Club nominate the Junior Vice President annually.

It is with great pleasure that we are now putting forward Richie Maybury as Junior Vice President (JVP).  Richie will succeed SVP Jimmy White (2025/26) and our President John Bolger (2024/25).

Richie is well deserving of this position.  He joined Bective in 2000 and played on our Firsts XV until 2010 in AIL Div 2.  Richie joined the Minis section in 2014, coaching his sons Oliver and Oscar to success at U13 level.  As Head of our Minis section, they have gone from strength to strength and are a thriving, pivotal part of our Club which Richie is rightly very proud of.

Richie’s name will be put forward at our next AGM for the position of SVP.

We all would like to congratulate Richie and to wish him every success in his new role.

Chairperson
