GENERAL UPDATES
Ashbourne has not always been a happy hunting ground for Bective, but the team, after a backs to the wall opening 10 minutes, ran out comprehensive bonus point winners with a totally dominant display up in Co. Meath on Saturday. With the tight result between the League leaders over in Sutton favouring Bective, it means we are now joint second in the League with Seapoint - just 3 points behind leaders Suttonians, who we play on Saturday week, 3rd Nov in Donnybrook.
But beforehand, the team have business to attend to with the trip south to North Cork this Saturday to face Mallow in the All-Ireland Jnr Cup. Long weekend, Halloween weekend, Dublin City Marathon….. a lot on for everyone. That said, the players would appreciate your support if you can travel. There are still places available on the players bus leaving early Saturday morning, should wish to leave the car behind.

U6/U7 AWAY Blitz St. Mary's/St. Brigid’s and Stillorgan Rathfarnham - on Sunday last the mighty U6/U7's took on a number of clubs in Templeville Road. With some skillful shepherding by our dedicated coaching team and great encouragement and support from the parents, the boys and girls performed excellently. They were treated to a fine display of relentless tagging and tries galore. Owing to their splendid performance the players were convinced they had won all their matches with every player bagging 4 tries each!!
U8 HOME St. Mary's/St. Brigid’s and Stillorgan Rathfarnham - Bective U8's had the pleasure of hosting a number of teams this week. Bective fielded 4 very competitive teams and all enjoyed plenty of success in some very hard fought matches. With over 100 kids participating, fun was had by all on a gloriously sunny morning in Donnybrook. Well done to Neil Pickard Head Coach of the U8 group for organising the blitz and the much enjoyed treats afterwards.
U9 AWAY Clondalkin - the U9 rugby match away to Clondalkin was an exhilarating experience! From the moment the teams stepped onto the pitch, the energy was electric. The kids were fired up, ready to give it their all. The match kicked off with fierce tackling from both sides. Players showed impressive determination, really getting stuck in and demonstrating great teamwork. Each tackle was met with cheers from the sidelines, as parents and supporters appreciated the commitment of the young athletes. Clondalkin were exceptional hosts, ensuring that the visiting team felt welcome from the start. Overall, it was a day filled with fierce competition, outstanding sportsmanship, and lots of fun.
U12 AWAY Lansdowne - the U12 team had an impressive outing away at Lansdowne on the back pitch behind the Aviva! They maintained their winning streak, showcasing some fantastic rugby skills and teamwork. It sounds like they really enjoyed the game and delivered a thrilling performance. They continue their impressive development towards 15 aside rugby.
U13 HOME St. Mary's - the U13 team faced some challenging circumstances in their match against St. Mary's. Losing 40-5 is tough, especially when injuries and tough conditions come into play. It’s impressive that the team adapted by finishing with two forwards on the wings. It was a great learning experience, and hopefully, they can bounce back stronger in their next match. St. Mary's fully deserved their win.
U14 AWAY Barnhall – the U14’s had an impressive match against Barnhall! Overcoming tough conditions to secure a 34-22 victory is a fantastic achievement, especially against a well-organised team. It's great to see the amalgamated side with Lansdowne continuing to develop and perform well. Keep up the excellent work!
Mike Ross also organised a Hooker Workshop with ex-Bective Mini and current Leinster and Ireland player Dan Sheehan on Friday for all the hookers across the U13 & U14 sides. A big thanks to Mike who always supports the club with initiatives like this.
