Bective win Leinster League Div 1A for the second year in a row with a game to spare.

General Updates

Another weekend to remember at the Club, kicking off with the Annual Dinner on Friday night, then the 1XV winning the League for the second year in a row on Saturday and also the 2XV & 3XV winning their matches too.

In front of another huge crowd in Donnybrook, Bective retained the Leinster League Div 1A title overcoming a spirted Seapoint with another fantastic 5 try bonus point win.
Congratulations and well done from everyone at the Club to Bernard, Capt. Colin,  the players and all the backroom team for all your hard work on your achievement, winning the League back-to-back and qualifying again for the 2023 Energia AIL Round Robin play off’s.

The play off draw has pitched Bective against the Ulster champions Clogher Valley RFC on Saturday 1st April, with the venue to be confirmed.  Watch out for further updates.

Supporters Bus to Gorey

There will be a supporters bus travelling to Gorey this Saturday for the final matches in the league, with the 1XV hoping to close out the league with another win. The President of the Leinster Branch will be in attendance to present the Leinster League Div 1A Cup and Pennant to Bective. Preceding the firsts match at 1.30pm, the 2XV go into their match 1 point behind the leaders Gorey and will be hoping to bring further glory to Bective with a winner takes all final League game which would be a fantastic achievement. Whichever team wins this game will win the league. We hope to see all the Bective folk, members and supporters at Gorey on Saturday to cheer on both teams.

The bus will leave Donnybrook at 10.45am and head to the Ashdown Hotel, Gorey for arrival at approx. 12.00pm. You can grab some lunch and a pint in the hotel before departing for the grounds at approx. 1pm to watch both games.

The bus will then leave Gorey at around 6pm - 6.30pm to head back to the Club where we will hopefully welcome home two league winning teams.

The cost of the bus is €10 which includes a free pint on arrival back in Bective.

Should you wish to book a spot please message Emmett Sheridan on 086 8510152 or Mark O’Brien on 086 3621226.

As always, your support is key to the clubs success!

2XV: Hard to believe back in November the team were in 4th place in the league and now they  are one win away from glory. Tremendous performance on Saturday, to come from behind to win the match. A great season so far and all the best to Captain Sean Geraghty and the lads on Saturday.

Final score: Bective Rangers 29 – Seapoint 21

3XV: Best performance so far this season. After a tough start, the team have now climbed up to mid table. A great achievement and credit is due to all the players and coaches.

Final Score: Bective Rangers 63 – Coolmine 17

Annual Dinner

It was a busy weekend at the Club as the Annual Dinner took place on Friday night. Hosted by President David O’Donnell, ably assisted by MC Mark Jones who ensured the running order for the evening went smoothly. Attended by over 160 guests, it turned out to be a wonderful evening. Guest speaker Jamie Heaslip took to the podium to be interviewed by our own Bernard Jackman. Prompted by Bernard, Jamie discussed the highlights of his career with Leinster, Ireland and the Lions.  IRFU President John Robinson attended with his wife Lynne and spoke eloquently about Bective and the clubs contribution to Irish rugby. Special word of thanks to Valerie Stein, Mark O’Brien, Declan Lawler, Michael Flood and Emmett Sheridan for all their hard work in organising the event.
