AGM 2024 - Update — Bective Rangers

The recent AGM was very well attended at the Clubhouse. Our Hon Secretary J.J. O’Reilly took us through his extensive and excellent report detailing the affairs of the club through the 2023/24 season and to the way forward for 2024/25.

All those who were present witnessed the President’s baton being passed from Michael Shalloe to John Bolger. On behalf of all the members we would like to say well done to Michael on your fantastic Presidency and we wish John all the best for his Presidency in 2024/2025. A mention also and congratulations to Jimmy White on your election to Snr. Vice President for the coming season.

A traditional part of the evening is the presentation of the “Club Member of the Year” award. The “Jim Clancy Trophy” was presented to Paddy O’Brien, our “Club Member of the Year”. Congratulations and a huge thank you to Paddy for all your work and dedication on the clubhouse renovation project. Congratulations also to Louis Magee Snr. on being proposed and unanimously seconded with Honorary Life Membership in recognition of not only Louis’s own contribution to Bective, Leinster and Irish rugby, but also his family’s connection to Bective all the way back to the 1890’s.

On behalf of the Executive and the members, we wish to acknowledge the huge contribution of the following members of our committee who are stepping down after many years of sterling service to the club: Hon. Treasurer Marisa Guerrero, Director of Organisation Emmett Sheridan, Hon. Memberships Secretary Mark Jones and Executive Member Conor Heffernan. We would like to welcome onto the Executive: Hon. Treasurer Andrea Mathews, Joint Directors of Organisation Jim Dwyer and Conor Murphy and taking on the role of Hon. Memberships Secretary is Shane Comer. A big congratulations also to new Club Captain Tiarnan McCloskey on his election as Captain of First XV.

A very important part of the evening was the presentation of Players Honours Scarves. Congratulations to all the players on your award: Ger Warde and Matthew Gilsenan of the 1XV; Ben Ryan and David Kealy of the 2XV; Stephen Fox and John Leahy of the 3XV; Cian Walsh and David Byrne of the U17’s. Honorary Scarves were also presented to Pat McKeown and Phil Lawlor in recognition of their services to Bective. A huge thank you to all the Honour Scarves recipients for your hard work and dedication to the club.
