General Updates
The January campaign finished on Saturday with great results on the pitch for the club. The 1st, 2nds & 3rds all winning their games. The rugby takes a break for the Internationals and the players can take a well earned break until the resumption of the league on the 18th Feb. when we host Suttonians in Donnybrook.
The 1XV completed the 3 match January campaign with another massive win away at Ashbourne on Saturday, that’s the 3 wins in the bag now as Bective stretch their lead at the top of the table by 7 points from Gorey after 11 games played. Ashbourne is a tough fixture as all teams know ,as we said last week that previous games between the clubs are always close affairs and Saturday’s match was no different with Bective finally closing out the match from a great forward maul and drive for Connie Camper to touch down in added time and put the game to bed.
Make no mistake the players had to work their socks off, dig deep, stay calm and show huge courage to come from behind against a very spirted and physical Ashbourne XV.

2XV. A feature of the season so far is the quality of the performances of the Seconds with all the players putting their hands up. Up first on Saturday they were not found wanting to record another fine win beating League leaders Ashbourne 2XV leaving Bective in 2nd place in the league ,1 point behind.

3XV. Back to winning ways again for the Thirds in a great 7 try win over the Emerald Warriors on the back pitch in Donnybrook on Friday night. Credit is due to the coaches and players for turning the season around
as team move up the table.

U14’s. Tough on the players and the coaches as the team were very unlucky in the cup away to Malahide just losing out 24 - 21 against a very strong side.
U13’s. Hard luck also to the players and coaches as the team lost out to a very big strong Barnhall team in the cup.
U11’s. played at home to a strong St Brigids team and both matches were extremely competitive ending in draws
U10’s. performed very well away in Greystones winning the majority of their matches

Walk on the Wild Mountain Side
The 12th Annual Memorial Walk took place last Sunday at 9 am on a perfect dry January morning in aid of Pieta.
A good crew of hardy Rangers joined Pat McKeown and Robert Cuddy and made the 4 hour trek over the Dublin mountains from Johnny Foxes, taking in the beautiful view of Dublin Bay below, through Rathfarnham, then along the Dodder river to Bective.
On arriving in Bective Mark O’Brien had the bar open with the famous Bective fire lit and Sharon served up a splendid ‘’Full Irish’’ for all the hungry walkers.
A few light ales were had by all and everyone sang along as Frank Costello strummed Lou Reed’s classic song.
If you missed the walk this year, diary it in for 2024 on the last Sunday in January.
Ladies Lunch
The Ladies Lunch is on Sat 25th February 2023 @ 2.30pm in the Clubhouse, Donnybrook in aid of The Alzheimer Society of Ireland.
Tickets are €60pp and include a prosecco reception, lunch & entertainment.
