BECTIVE 2XV vs SUTTONIANS
SAT 21 DEC | DONNYBROOK | JIM BYRNE CUP FINAL
KO: 2.30PM
GENERAL UPDATES
So it was a trip up north last Saturday to take on the unbeaten Ulster league leaders Dromore in the AIL Jnr Cup Semi – Final. What an epic match it turned out to be, with Bective taking the game to our opponents in a fantastic first half performance to lead at halftime by 8-nil. With the light fading and conditions deteriorating, and with their backs to the wall, the players produced an astonishing second half performance to hold on and beat Dromore by 11-7. Make no mistake, the tackle count stats went out the window for each and every player who all played their part for a shot at IRFU silverware in the final against Enniskillen on Sat 25 Jan, KO: 2.30pm, Venue: Ashbourne RFC.
All teams are downing tools now for Christmas, except this weekend the 2XV have the opportunity of giving an early Christmas present to the club as they take on Suttonians on Saturday in the Jim Byrne Cup Final in Donnybrook, KO: 2.30pm.
Always remember your support is key to the team’s success

RESULTS:
U6/U7 AWAY DLSP - Our youngest group ventured up to DLSP last weekend. they played some brilliant rugby scoring some great tries in the process. Justin White and Jonathan Lynch and their coaching team are doing a brilliant job with this group.
U8 HOME DLSP/Seapoint/Clondalkin - The U8 group hosted an early morning blitz last weekend. Having played a number of blitz's recently the U8's performed really well making their tackles and scoring some great tries. Head coaches Neil Pickard and Jame Martin-smith have created a great environment for this group to develop.
U12 AWAY Ashboure/Rathoath - The U12's continued their match streak with a tough away trip to Ashbourne where they also played Rathoath. They were met with some very big players but the Bective U12's took both clubs on with some fierce tackling and some brilliant skills on show. Head coach Paul Hatton has done a superb job with this big group.
U13 HOME Greystones - The U13 group played another league fixture at home to Greystones. They competed really well in the first half with the score only at 12 - 5 at half time to Greystones. A couple of quick tries from Greystones early in the second half took the wind out of Bective's sails and the score finished up at 31 - 5. That being said there were some super performances from Caolan Lennon, Rian O'Callaghan and Evan Dunphy in the forwards. Even with a number of injuries they kept fighting until the end.
U14 AWAY Blackrock College - Our U14 amalgamated team with Lansdowne had a huge win at the weekend against Blackrock. They scored 5 tries on the way to a 31 - 5 win against Blackrock. Congratulations to head coaches Dave Lane and Dave Shaw.

The ‘Bective Men’s Shed’ is for those retired members who can give an hour or two on a Thursday to devote to maintenance and development of our premises and for a meet up for tea/coffee. We are keen to develop the rear of the pavilion so that it can be used during the summer months for outside eating/drinking and the group are currently working on this project. The Men’s Shed meets on Thursdays at 12 noon in the clubhouse.
