Bective mourns passing of Paddy O’Donoghue

The President, Executive and members of Bective Rangers FC are sad to report the news on the passing of our former player, coach, administrator, Paddy ‘Donoghue, our condolences to Sean, Paul and Elaine and the extended O’Donoghue family.

Paddy was educated at CBC Dun Laoghaire (now CBC Monkstown) and like many past pupils of CBC he joined Bective after school. Paddy was prop for the Bective Leinster Senior Cup winning teams in 1955 and 1956 and was capped for Ireland 11 times and played for the Barbarians.

When his playing days were over Paddy got involved in coaching and administration at Club and IRFU level. He coached CBC Monkstown to Leinster Schools success in1976 and served as both Hon Treasurer and Hon Secretary of the IRFU for a number of years. Paddy was also a fine golfer and a member at Woodbrook GC

He was a true stalwart of Bective and will be much missed.

May he rest in peace.
