The Ladies have a blast in Bective

The Annual Ladies’ Lunch was held in Bective on Saturday 26th January and this year the charity was the Laura Lynn Foundation. With about 150 attending it was once again a most enjoyable afternoon/evening. The event got off to a fun and fizzy start with a glass of bubbly for everyone, sponsored by Club President Barbara Culleton. The food was up to its usual high standard with the catering by Vinny Hanlon and friendly & efficient service from the waiting staff. There was wine with the meal sponsored by some Bective Members (in particular Eoin Green), Lir chocolates and mini bottles of gin on every table sponsored by Whitley Neil Gin and then some Bailey’s to finish. Mark O’Brien along with Sharon, Peter and the rest of the crew, did a great job keeping the thirsts quenched from behind the Club bar.

The Bective ladies brought along their friends from book clubs, “old” school friends, relations and work colleagues and the day proved a perfect opportunity for both reunions and meeting new people. There was a raffle at the end of the meal with some super prizes courtesy of some very generous sponsors, including Rituals products hampers, 64 Wine hampers, a hamper from Richmond Marketing, Lir Chocolates and a case of Freixenet. Tara O’Brien (Illustrator) donated a few prints, the Sandymount Hotel and Mink Nail Salon gave the club a voucher. Thanks to the Leinster Branch & IRFU who donated a pair of tickets to a PRO14 match. The prizes were all gratefully accepted by the club & winners.

The glamour was on show on the dance floor, and seated at the tables, and it never takes much to keep the party going with this group of ladies. The atmosphere and dancing were both enhanced by great music from The Kaye Twins – sure who doesn’t love a saxophone!

To prove the success of the day (as if it were needed) reservations have already been made for next year..…roll on 2020!

Huge thank you to the organising committee of Barbara Culleton, Fiona Shalloe, Julie Lawler, Maria Comer and Siobhán Ní Mhathúna along with Mark O’Brien.
