Ireland vs Argentina Lunch
Guinness Autumn International Series
Sat, 10th November 2018
The club wishes to thank Felipe Contepomi for speaking at last weekend’s lunch. It was lovely for all in attendance to get to know him and his family who were also in attendance. We wish Felipe the best of luck with Leinster this coming season and also his parents a safe trip back to Argentina this week.
Felipe returns to Leinster as backs coach having graced the jersey as a player from 2003-2009 and the club can safely say that it was widely welcomed by players, coaches and supporters alike when the news broke.
Having joined Leinster Rugby as a player in 2003, Contepomi played 116 times for the club during his time in blue winning a Celtic League title in 2008 and a Heineken Cup title a year later before joining Toulon.
Contepomi was also nominated for the IRB Player of the Year Award in 2007 and until last season was the record all-time point scorer for Leinster with 1,225 points.
Internationally he won 87 caps for Argentina and was a key member of the team that finished third in the 2007 Rugby World Cup.
He was inducted in the World Rugby Hall of Fame in 2017 and has for the last few seasons been working back home in Buenos Aires with the Argentinian Rugby Union as Head Coach of the Argentina XV for 2017/18 and with the Jaguares in Super Rugby.
