24th March 2019

On Friday the 1st of March 2019 the Bective Rangers annual dinner took place in the clubhouse at Donnybrook.

The dinner was an opportunity to honour our President Barbara Culleton and to acknowledge her outstanding contribution , and that of the entire Culleton family, to Bective Rangers over many years.

Barbara is the first lady to be President of our club and she is also the 100th member to be elected as President.

The gathering in Bective for the dinner included the Junior Vice President of the IRFU Des Kavanagh along with the Presidents and representatives of all the Leinster clubs. A very large turn out of members and guests was also indicative of the esteem in which Barbara is held in our club and throughout the rugby fraternity.

Barbara opened the evening by welcoming all the special guests and members  and the speeches throughout the evening were all very well received. Des Kavanagh was fulsome in his praise for the club, acknowledging the difficult position we find ourselves in at present. Johnny Vaughan welcomed the guests in a witty speech and of course Paul Howard , aka Ross O’Carroll Kelly, gave us a most entertaining insight into the fictional world of life in” Castlerock”and its environs. An excellent meal was served and as ever the wine flowed

But most of all it was an evening that demonstrated the regard in which Barbara is held not only in Bective but in rugby in general.

Barbara has been an outstanding ambassador for our club this season.
